Emma Broholm
Emma Broholm is a strategist, researcher, and advocacy specialist based in Amsterdam, with a background in international law, and a strong focus on climate justice, human rights, and cultural production. She has worked across sectors – ranging from international NGOs to film festivals and creative studios – bringing together legal expertise, research, and creative storytelling to drive projects with social and environmental impact.
Her work has supported the development of global and regional policy proposals on climate governance, as well as cross-sector initiatives addressing the intersection of climate and human rights. Emma has held research and program roles with organizations such as Amref Health Africa, Defence for Children – ECPAT, and the European Legal Support Center. She has been involved with the Climate Governance Commission since 2020.
In parallel, she has built a strong profile in the cultural and creative industries, serving in marketing, programming and leadership roles at prominent European film festivals, including Go Short, Netherlands Film Festival, and Sprouts. As founder of The Biggest Picture, she offers freelance strategy consultancy to organizations working at the intersection of culture, justice, and sustainability.
Emma holds a Master’s degree in International and European Law from the University of Amsterdam and a Bachelor of Law from Leiden University. Her academic work has focused on particularism in human rights law and the rights of Indigenous peoples under international legal frameworks.
